SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

In the period of 1996-2000 the official organism of Dominican's tourism lived through an interesting stage when one initiated a series of actions directed to the attainment of a tourist sustainable development. For it the secretary of tourism of this moment sr. Félix Jiménez, forms an equipment of technical personnel, creates new departments as that of ecotourism and environment, supervision, community development between others.

7-En the area of tourist marketing: by the first time in the history of the country there is realized the national plan of tourist marketing initiating new strategies.

8-En tourist legislation: I initiate the property reparation of the plots with tourist declarations.

9-En the involved part with the hotel managers in the financing work of social good to the communities they mention the reconstruction of housings of humble communities destroyed by the cyclone George in the tourist poles of this.

10-En matter of policies for the development of the ecotourism I manage:

- The increase of the small medians and micro-companies ecoturisticas from approximately 20 to more of 60.

- The national program of training in sustainable tourism and ecotourism across workshops of two days.

- The support every year to the celebration of the fair ecoturistica and of production supported by the foundation science and art.

- There was established the categorization of the ecotourism companies by his requirements like his authorization.
