A drug test can be called a technical examination of the blood, semen, sweat and urine for checking the absence and presence of specified drugs and their products. This drug test is taken by special drug testing kit. Drug testing kit can be found easily in the market as it is available everywhere. Anybody can use this drug testing kit in home also. It is a simple mechanism.

In USA drug testing is divided into two categories. The first one is called federally and the second one is called non-federally. The federally drug testing was started by Ronald Reagan and he made it mandatory for the federal employees to pass from it. It was done for avoiding using illegal and specified drugs. Here the drug testing regulation was operated by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration or you can say it SAMHSA. And this organization was under the direction of National Institute on Drug Abuse or NIDA.

Sometimes drug testing kit which are found on Internet is not the best way to determine that a person has taken drug or not because most person do not know the way to collect the urine or hair sample for testing. They do not know the limits of test result. The drug tests are categorized into five groups. These are:

1. Cannabinoids (Marijuana, hashish – tests for metabolite THCCHOOH)

2. Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine)

3. Opiates (Heroin, opium, codeine, morphine, 6-MAM)

4. Cocaine (Benzolylecognine, methamphetamine)

5. Phencyclidine (PCP)

There are some common types of drug tests. These are:

1. Urine drug test: In this type of test or procedure the urine of the person is required. Through this urine it is determined that the person has taken any type of drugs or not. The urine is then sent to a lab where it has to undergo gas chromatography or mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography.

2. Hair drug testing: It is more accurate than the urine drug test. The labs where hair drug testing takes place are regulated by CLIA or SAMHSA. In this the hair grows out and if any drugs are used then it gets encased in the hair shaft and by this way it is tested.

3. Hair alcohol testing: When the hair grows then they absorbs special markers called fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) and ethyl glucuronide (EtG) into their structure. And these remain in hair structure indefinitely. These markers are found in hair only when a person consumes alcohol or amount of alcohol is found in bloodstream. The more alcohol is consumed the more marker is found. This type of tests is used by the UK courts. First time this test was conducted by the Trimega Laboratories.

4. Saliva drug test: This type of test is more popular because it cannot be adulterated. These tests are accurate and can be obtained from various suppliers of United States. This type of test is used to detect on the job drug use.

5. Sweat drug test: These are generally patches attached to the skin to collect sweat over a long period of time (10-14 days). This type of tests are conducted by the parole departments, government institutions etc.

For all the above types drug testing kit is available in the market, but doing it in home is not a good option. It will be good to contact a professional for this purpose.
