In general visual arts are different from other. In visual arts you have to focus on the creation of work which is basically visual in nature such as photography, printmaking, painting, and filmmaking. Visual arts are similar to natural work. We cannot change them according to our thinking. Visual arts are also called fine arts and crafts. Here crafts does not mean handicraft. For example, the most famous work of visual arts is the painting of Mona Lisa. Later on a distinction was emerged due to art schools between fine arts and the crafts in such a way that a craftsperson could not be considered a practitioner of art.
Making an image with the help of variety of tools and techniques is called drawing. This is process of making marks on a surface with the help of a tool, or moving the tool on a surface mainly on paper. The tools used for this purpose or drawings are generally graphite pencils, pen, wax color pencils, charcoals, crayons, pastels and markers. Sometimes digital tools are also used for this purpose. The basic techniques used for drawings are hatching, line drawing, crosshatching, scribbling, stippling, and blending. A draftsman or draughtsman is an artist who excels in drawing.
Like drawing painting is also a form of visual arts. Painting is generally a practice of applying pigments and colors and a binding agent to a surface. The surface used for painting can be anything such as paper, canvas, or a wall. When painting is used in artistic sense then it is done in combination with drawing. So painting and drawing are very much related to each other. It is also used for expressing ideas and spiritual motifs. Paintings were practiced from ancient times. In ancient times paintings were used to keep records on walls, etc.
Another form of visual arts is printmaking. The process of creating an image on a matrix and then transferring it on a two-dimensional surface with the help of an ink is called printmaking. Other than the case of monotype, the same matrix is used for making several other prints. There are many techniques used in printmaking such as line graving, lithography, screen-printing and woodcut. In printmaking, paper is used as a surface but sometimes other things can be also used such as cloth or vellum. The prints which were produced before 1830 in western tradition were known as old master prints.
Photography is another form of visual arts. It is a process of making moving pictures with the help of action of light. In this process the reflected light patterns are recorded onto a sensitive medium or storage device with the help of a timed exposure. In photography process various techniques are used such as chemical, mechanical and digital devices known as camera.
One more basic form of visual arts is filmmaking. The process of making moving pictures with help of initial conception is called filmmaking. There are many techniques are processes which are used in filmmaking are scriptwriting, shooting, recording, and animations. And the final process of filmmaking is distribution to audience.
